In short
- Hollow Pages does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data.
- There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
- Your bookmarks, reading progress and settings are stored only on your iPhone.
- All thirty stories are built into the app, so it never needs an internet connection.
1. Who we are and what this covers
This policy explains how Hollow Pages (“the app”), an iPhone app of short stories about Ancient Egypt, and this website handle information. “We” and “us” mean the developer of Hollow Pages. You can reach us at post@ivorycipher.click.
Hollow Pages was designed to work entirely on your device. The stories and their sources ship inside the app, and nothing you do while reading is sent to us or to anyone else.
2. Information stored on your device
To remember where you are, the app keeps a small amount of reading information in its own private storage on your iPhone, using Apple’s SwiftData and UserDefaults frameworks:
- Bookmarks — which stories you saved and when you saved them.
- Reading progress — your position in each story, how much of it you have read, whether it is unread, in progress or finished, and when you last opened or finished it.
- Reading settings — your chosen text size and line spacing.
- Tips — whether the in-app hints (shown with Apple’s TipKit) have been displayed, and whether you asked to see them again.
- Screen state — a random identifier that iOS uses to reopen the app on the tab and story you were viewing. It is not linked to you or your device.
This information never leaves your iPhone through the app, is not linked to your identity and is not accessible to us. Like other app data, it may be included in the device backups that you make with iCloud Backup or a computer, which are governed by Apple’s terms rather than ours.
3. What the app never does
- It does not ask you to create an account or sign in.
- It does not connect to the internet, to our servers or to any third-party service.
- It contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking software, and it does not track you across other apps or websites.
- It does not access your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, health data or any other personal information on your device.
- It does not offer in-app purchases or handle payment information.
This matches the privacy manifest included with the app: no data is collected and no tracking takes place.
4. Your choices and control
- Reset statistics — in Profile → Tips and Data, this clears your reading progress and counts. Your bookmarks stay.
- Remove a bookmark — tap the bookmark icon on any story again.
- Delete everything — deleting the app from your iPhone permanently removes all of its stored information.
Because we hold no personal data from the app, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf. Your data lives with you.
5. Apple and the App Store
Hollow Pages is downloaded and updated through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes the information involved in that, such as your Apple Account and purchase history, under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone’s settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymous statistics such as install counts and crash reports. These do not identify you, and you can turn the option off at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
6. This website
This website is a simple informational page. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts.
Fonts
The site loads its typeface from Google Fonts. To deliver the font files, your browser connects to Google’s servers, which receive your IP address and browser information as part of that request. Google handles this under the Google Privacy Policy.
Contact form
The contact form on the home page is for display only. Nothing you type into it is sent, stored or seen by anyone, and the confirmation message appears without transmitting your words. To reach us, please write to the email address below.
Hosting
The service that hosts this website may record standard technical logs, such as IP address, browser type and the time of a request, to keep the site secure and running. We do not use these logs to identify visitors.
7. When you email us
If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use it only to reply to you, never add you to a mailing list, never share it, and delete the correspondence once it is no longer needed. You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time.
8. Children
Hollow Pages is suitable for a general audience. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children, including children under 13.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA give you rights over your personal data, including the right to access, correct or delete it. Since the app does not collect personal data, these rights mainly apply to any email you send us; contact us and we will respond promptly.
10. Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes the way it handles information, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
